Honesty is Not the Best Policy

c

There are a lot of people in my life that I don’t personally agree with on a number of political topics. I don’t expect them to see things the way I do and most of them don’t expect me to see things their way. In short, we have our differences and while we may find them odd, peculiar, or down right insane; we are still capable of carrying on a friendly relationship. We simply “agree to disagree”.

Jane(ane) You Ignorant Slut

Janeane Garafalo’s recent statements on MSNBC really illustrates the complete disconnect from reality affecting most celebrity politicos. Apparently, anyone who feels that their tax dollars are being wasted by our federal and state governments is a racist. Nevermind, that most of the protesters were pretty hacked off at both the current and previous administrations as well as a number of state and local governments. We wouldn’t want to let little things like facts get in the way of a liberal talking point.

If a Box of Tea Falls in the Harbor…

If a box of tea falls in Boston Harbor, but the Globe doesn’t report it; did it really happen? The answer is a resounding yes. The original Boston Tea Party certainly did happen even though the Boston Globe wasn’t there to cover it. The same can be said for yesterday’s nationwide “Tea Party” protest against government spending gone completely out of control. Of course, the Boston Globe ran article after article about the “Day without Illegal Immigrants” protest, but not a single character in yesterday’s paper about the tea parties.

Howard Kurtz at the Washinton Post has a great article about the lack of coverage from the “Mainstream Media” and it really is stunning how just about every media outlet accused of a liberal bias did nothing to prove their critics wrong.

Ron Paul on Real Time with Bill Maher

I recently came across this video on YouTube this morning and decided it sure beat anything else I found. The clip is an interview with Ron Paul (R-TX) from Real Time with Bill Maher.

In this interview, you can see that Dr. Paul is clearly of a more libertarian bent than he is a Republican, but libertarians don’t get elected in America. We’re too entrenched in the two part system and the machinations of corrupt party apparatchik.

Property Taxes Rising Despite Falling Values

This next post is more of a public service announcement than a commentary piece. My property assessment for the purposes of determining my property taxes has been steadily increasing year after year, despite the fact that the “real” value of my home has been steadily declining. The problem is my local town hasn’t been able to get an increase in the tax rate approved so they’ve been simply jacking up the appraisal amounts. In the current economic climate, now is the time to fight back and this video from CBS News has some good information on how to do it.

$595M in Red Herring and a Whole Lot of Kool-Aid

Five hundred and ninety five million dollars and awful lot of money. Most Americans will never see one million dollars in their lifetime let alone five hundred and ninety five. Our government on the other hand is tripping over itself to throw it away. Among some of the most egregious examples being:
